One of my all-time favorite characters is Leo Baskerville from Pandora Hearts. Leo appears as a quite sensible attendant to Elliot Nightray, his best friend. Leo wears big oval glasses and his hair covers his face. Towards the end of the series, Leo goes somewhat crazy as the result of Elliot’s death. They had met at an orphanage and Elliot chose him to be his attendant. Though he rejected Elliot at first, Leo began to take interest in him and they bonded over piano and their love of music.
Leo had secretly signed a contract for Elliot to be bound to a Chain (a monster that lives in the Abyss) who erases bad memories. Leo thought he was doing the right thing, but when a headhunter goes after the Nightray family, Elliot ends up being the culprit. The Chain had convinced Elliot to murder his family because of the hateful comments they had towards Leo. The Chain erased his memories. Elliot decides to disobey the Chain and he ends up being killed.
While Leo is vulnerable and crazy, the Baskervilles manipulate him into becoming the heir of the family. It is revealed that he is the reincarnation of Oswald Baskerville, the past head of the Baskervilles. As a result, Leo was born with a connection to the Abyss, being his black eyes flecked with gold (the colors of the Abyss.) In the end, Leo remembers who he is.
Leo and Elliot’s characters are the most tragic in this series in my opinion. Neither of them had particularly satisfying lives and they were both lonely people. Elliot and Leo were the perfect duo and they respected each other so much. The author Jun Mochizuki played the characters out as not being able to live without each other. I love Leo and even though the series is fantasy, the characters still seem so human.
Zenitsu Agatsuma from the anime/manga “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba” is definitely one of my favorite characters.
Zenitsu is a Demon Slayer, which means that he has been trained to hunt demons. At the end of a big test all the future demon slayers had to take, Zenitsu was given a special blade and a little bird friend.
Despite being a demon slayer, Zenitsu is a coward and is always whining about how weak he is. He often goes into a state of panic where his worries overlap each other and it turns into a spiral of anxiety. Zenitsu is always yelling about how he won’t live long because he’s a Demon Slayer and his life is always in danger. When he was training, a strike of lightning hit him and changed his black hair into a yellow color.
Still, Zenitsu is quite strong when he needs to be. He can go into a blind rage and kill demons when he has to (keeping true to character, however, when Zenitsu kills a demon he never believes it). Zenitsu was taught by a strict but well known Demon Slayer and is very thankful for him.
Zenitsu is a loud character and sometimes he’s quite annoying. I like him because because I can sort of understand what he feels whenever he’s having a panic attack. Overall, Zenitsu’s quite funny and being a huge fan of comedy it works out.
One of my all time favorite anime characters is Kanna Kamuifrom Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. Kanna is a dragon girl who has come to the human world to retrieve Tohru, another dragon girl who has been living with (the human) Miss Kobayashi. Tohru and Miss Kobayashi later find out Kanna is not allowed to go back to the dragon realm, and lets her live with them. Kanna, being a child, decides to go to school and meets Saikawa Riko, who later becomes her friend. Kanna experiences many things in the human world and comes to think of Miss Kobayashi as a parent and Tohru as a sister.
I like Kanna because she’s really curious all the time and you can see she’s trying her hardest to fit in with humans.
Vincent Nightray is one of my favorite anime/manga characters. He’s from the manga (that turned into an anime) “Pandora Hearts.” Vincent’s actually a villain, and from the start I kind of despised him. You get the wrong impression of him in the anime since it only covers the first nine or ten books.
Vincent is a character that does the wrong things for the right reasons. He’s tormented by what he’s done in the past. Vincent is convinced he’s doing all these bad things to please his older brother, Gilbert Nightray. But he’s also set on the idea that he has to disappear if he wants to make Gilbert happy. In the end, you feel bad for him.
I’m introducing yet another character from Noragami: his name is Yukine and he is Yato’s Shinki, taking the form of a sword (I’ve mentioned the word before, but in case you haven’t seen it, a Shinki is basically an item that a god has. If you say its name, it can take human form.). Despite being younger than him, Yukine keeps Yato on track.
Yukine was a 14 year-old boy before he became a Shinki so he decides he wants to learn things like other kids would in school. But since nobody else can really see him, he asks the protagonist who can see him, Hiyori Iki (who’s a high school student), to be his teacher. Yukine is very kind and has a hard time killing things, as he serves as a sword.
I like him because he started off obnoxious and rude, but he’s turned into a kind, caring character.

This character is named Yaboku, but uses the name Yato or Yatogami. Yato’s from the series Noragami. Yato is actually a powerful war god, but is called a god of calamity. He can be ridiculous because in the series he seems to have changed from a dark character to a childish one. Despite being annoying, Yato can still be terrifying. He has a dark past, and as a god now, Yato just goes around doing odd jobs to gain money. But Yato’s biggest fear is being forgotten, so he tries his hardest to stay in people’s memories even though after a day or two, people will forget he’s there.

This is Anne “Hanako” Hanakoizumi from the manga/anime “Anne Happy.” She’s a very hyper character and is often seen with animals. However, she’s what you would call “unlucky” because she’s always getting into trouble and animals hate her. (I’m not even exaggerating their hatred; they bite her, scratch her, and run away from her) What I like about Hanako is that no matter the situation, she stays positive and full of energy.
